Chiral nanoclusters for spin hyperpolarization upon photoexcitation
Georgeta Salvan (Chemnitz University of Technology) / Michael Mehring (Chemnitz University of Technology)
Goal
This project aims at the understanding of the CISS-effect (Chirality-Induced Spinselectivity) in photoinduced dynamic charge transfer using assemblies of atomically precise bismuth oxido nanoclusters (BiON) and peptides on metallic surfaces.
Challenge
The chemically precise manipulation of BiONs and their assembly with peptides to give chiral heterostructures on magnetic substrates as well as the development of an experimental setup to study the effect of photoinduced CISS for the heterostructure assemblies.
Impact
This project is expected to provide strategies to manipulate photoinduced hyperpolarization depending on the nature of molecular assemblies.
