Design and application of novel TADF compounds for triplet–triplet upconverting photocatalysis

Goal

Synthesis, design and modulation of donor-acceptor-type “triplet donors” and different annihilator compounds in combination with photophysical characterization and studies for an improved understanding of the corresponding spin-conversion processes and their application in upconverting photocatalysis.

Challenge

Identification of key (design) parameters for efficient triplet-triplet upconversion donor/annihilator pairs and their successfull application for challenging photocatalytic transformations.

Impact

Design rules for efficient triplet-triplet upconversion processes as well conceptually new applications of TADF compounds for solution-based hyperpolarization techniques.
