An important part of the TRR funding of HYP*MOL by the German Research Foundation (DFG) is the support for the implementation of extensive equal opportunities measures. Our consortium is committed to promote gender equality and diversity in all respects by applying measures already developed at the applicant universities and by developing additional specific strategies. To ensure a high level of professionalism, we take advantage of the high-quality support offered by the TRR’s host universities in Leipzig and Chemnitz. In addition, Prof Christina Lamers (Project Z2) is our Equal Opportunities Manager and, in this capacity, represented on the HYP*MOL Managing Board.
Equal opportunities offers at Leipzig University
t.e.a.m. basecamp, a programme offered by Leipzig University, offers female doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in coordinated DFG collaborative projects impulses and empowerment in personal and professional terms. Participants benefit from the t.e.a.m. modules of training, expertise, alliances and mentoring as well as networking across alliances. Female HYP*MOL scientists will be integrated into t.e.a.m. basecamp.
Equal opportunities offers at Chemnitz University of Technology
HYP*MOL also works closely with the Centre for Equal Opportunities in Science and Research of the TU Chemnitz. The centre offers support for the family-friendly organization of “science” as a workplace and for young female scientists in the pursuit of their scientific careers.
Further equal opportunity measures and current events
In order to sensitize TRR-involved scientists to the topic of equal opportunities, we implement awareness measures in our meetings.
On 8 January 2024, Chemnitz University of Technology hosts a workshop for (early career) female scientists with a focus on “My career development – individual assessment and self-reflection”. Dr Kathrin Carl will report between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on perspectives for professional steps after the doctorate or postdoctoral phase.
